Look what I found... My friend just moved and he was trying to sell everything that wouldn't work in his new place. Guess how much I paid for it? Go on... guess! Would you believe he gave it to me in exchange for a batch of homemade cookies! Awesome, right? This piece has great bones but the finish is a little worn.
Here's my question.
Should I paint it or refinish the wood? I've been in to painting pieces but lately I've been enamored with the wood look too.
If I paint it, what color should I use?

NO WAY!!! This is killer!! You definitely paint it. No question. What color? Depends on your room, but I'd say this would look FABULOUS in just about any color! High gloss white in your living room - use it as a console w/your flatscreen on it. Kelly green w/brass accents. Orange/Red like LGN's sideboard!! So many options.....

ReplyDeleteHahaha Que! It's a sideboard. You keep your good dishes, vases, serving pieces, etc. in it. It'll go in my dining room. I love that you comment on my blog! You are such a good sport trying to figure out this design stuff! You are my favorite guy follower!

Refinish it!!! I can't tell you the number of times I've paint stripped a beautiful piece of furniture, all the while I'm cursing the person who defiled it with paint. Let the wood speak! And, while you're at it, you should clean up the hardware with a little Brasso. Excellent trade. KDM
